The Civic Association of the Hamlet of East Quogue

Welcome to East Quogue Civic Association, committed to making our community a better place to live and work. Together we can make a real difference!

About Us
The Civic Association of the Hamlet of East Quogue was founded in 1960. Our mission is to protect the rural and residential character of the hamlet, to keep our environment and waters safe and healthy for our residents, to engage in and encourage civic participation on a local, town and county level in matters affecting East Quogue, and to work with and support other organizations to strengthen and improve the quality of life in our area.
Projects
The East Quogue Civic Association works to improve the community through beautification projects, events, and scholarships. They established Hamlet Park, raised funds for the Main Street clock, and sponsor the annual Tree Lighting and Summer Concerts. They also support the Beautification Committee.

Board of Education Trustee Election
With two current members not seeking re-election, there are two available seats on the Board, with three candidates running.
The East Quogue Civic Association is proud to endorse Christine Grant. Christine is a hardworking and highly involved member of the East Quogue community. Her involvement with local organizations, support of community initiatives and willingness to step up wherever help is needed have earned her the trust and respect of many residents. She brings valuable professional experience in budgeting, planning, communication, and management. Christine understands that supporting our teachers and staff is essential to maintaining the strength of our school. She cares greatly about our students, our educators, and our community, and would bring a steady, responsible and community-minded voice to the Board of Education.
2026–2027 School Budget
The Civic Association supports the proposed school budget. This plan maintains the high-quality education and individualized attention our students deserve while remaining fiscally responsible and staying within the allowable tax levy. Voting "Yes" ensures our dedicated staff and essential programs have the resources they need to thrive.
Bond & Energy Performance Contract
We also encourage a "Yes" vote on this proposition. This is a necessary investment in the safety and longevity of our school building. Key improvements include:
-
Critical roof work, HVAC, and generator upgrades.
-
Window replacements and bathroom renovations.
-
Sidewalk, pavement, and fencing improvements.
This initiative is about maintaining a safe, efficient environment for our students and staff through essential infrastructure care.
Your voice matters in keeping East Quogue a wonderful place to live and learn. See you at the polls!
Urgent Community Update: Opposition to the Hampton Marina Redevelopment
Following the recent presentation at the Southampton Planning Board meeting, the East Quogue Civic Association (EQCA) has formally voiced significant opposition to the proposed Hampton Marina redevelopment. Our Board has identified several critical issues that threaten the integrity of our community, including the inappropriate scale of commercial expansion within a quiet residential neighborhood and the inevitable degradation of Weesuck Creek due to increased boat traffic and pollution. Furthermore, the plan to introduce a 93-car parking lot poses a severe safety risk at the hazardous intersection of Montauk Highway and Carter Lane. From the constant noise of "rack and roll" boat storage to the reverberations of indoor pickleball courts and late-night restaurant activity, the cumulative impact would be a constant disturbance to residents.
Key Areas of Concern
-
Residential Impact: Commercial density on Carter Lane threatens property values and local quality of life.
-
Environmental Risk: Increased fuel discharge and noise pollution endanger local waterfowl and water quality.
-
Traffic Safety: Significant influx of vehicles at an already dangerous thoroughfare.
-
Noise Pollution: Persistent sound from heavy machinery, metal buildings, and outdoor dining.
Take Action: The Southampton Planning Board is accepting public comments until February 20th. We urge all members to write a letter expressing their opposition to the proposal.
Food Scrap Composting is Here!
Great news for everyone who wants to compost their food scraps but had no way of doing it. After many years of delay by the previous administration, Supervisor Maria Moore, TOS Board member Michael Iasilli, and Town Engineer Tom Houghton have made it happen!
Compost collection bins are now set up at the Hampton Bays transfer station to accept food scraps such as fruits, vegetables, and bread. The complete lists of accepted and not accepted foods are listed below. Composting saves money by freeing up space in your green garbage bags, reduces the cost of carting waste to landfills, and will create “Southampton Black Gold” compost, which will be available for pickup by town residents.
The East Quogue Civic Association and the Village of East Quogue Beautification Committee fully support this effort. Joe Lamport of the TOS Sustainability Committee will be making a presentation about this program at the upcoming East Quogue Civic Association meeting on March 1st at 10:00 AM at the East Quogue Elementary School. See you there!
